End of trimester one...
I haven't posted in a while because I have been sick and with the rush to get grades finalized as trimester one came to an end, I needed a rest. So how do you balance the chaos of students who need the last few days of class to finish projects while others are technically done, but you don't have time to start a full-blown new project? Hello 3D Ninja stars and snowflakes!

(And while I know there has been some debate lately about whether or not art teachers should be using glitter, I am all for it. I can't help it. I love sparkles just as much as my students and let's face it. Sometimes life calls for being a little extra. If a little extra shine helps keep kids on-task and motivated, then I guess I'm guilty). 'Tis the season, after all!

For "extra credit" I challenged students who completed the stars to make for me 3D paper trees and surprisingly some accepted! Now I'm psyched for the mini-forest that is developing in my room and I think I'll use these in my display case. Win-win!

For those of you looking for a fun last-days-before-winter-break activity to keep your students engaged, check out my store to download a copy of the handout I gave my students to create these 3D trees. Happy folding!
