I like to... Move it! Kinetic Art

It's really funny what motivates kids. Since my 7th graders were so interested the whole idea of Op Art encouraging movement of the eye, I decided to keep the momentum going as we looked at the work of Yacov Agram, a Jewish artist whose agamographs are awesome. They seem to move or change as your position changes.

Student learned that kinetic works encourage the viewer to engage with the piece through movement (with the artwork having moving parts like a mobile), or by the viewer themselves having to physically move where they are standing to really enjoy the whole piece.

7th graders are creating agamographs based on a theme. They needed to create two images that are related. Check out the finished results!
