7th grade LOVEs Indiana-inspired letters

My 7th grade students love these Robert Indiana-inspired 3D forms that they make using the initials of their first name. We discuss Robert Indiana's famous LOVE sculpture found in Philadelphia and how artists like Indiana, Jasper Johns, and Steve Powers all use basic letters and numbers for their works.

I require my students to design their letters with a pattern of a repeating line or shape on every side. These always are a popular project.

As for me, I am SO happy to be finishing up these sculptures! Seriously. As much as my 7th graders love making them and I enjoy how they look when they're done, this would not be one of my favorite projects because working with plaster gauze is MESSY! But... after almost 2 weeks working on these, they are finally almost all done! Yay!
