My 7th grade students have been working on Soft Sculpture Sugar Skulls. Kids really get into this project. This is the second time I doing this lesson and the more I do it, the more I like it. What's not to love? An interesting cultural connection to Mexico, skeletons, bright colors and the chance to use sequins and pom moms. Needless to say this has been a popular 7th grade lesson that was shared with me from the Art Educators of NJ conference a few years ago. (I believe the presenters did this lesson with their elementary students, but my middle schoolers LOVE it and so do I!) We are ready for Dia De Los Muertos and Halloween too with these bad boys!
